Data Analyst with SQL and Python Business 🏆

Responsibilities:

  • Collect, cleanse, and validate extensive datasets—particularly POS and transactional data—from various sources to ensure accuracy and dependability.
  • Analyze sales performance across products, categories, locations, and timeframes to uncover trends, opportunities, and areas for enhancement.
  • Construct and maintain dashboards, automated reports, and visualizations using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Excel.
  • Monitor key retail KPIs, including sales, margin, pricing accuracy, promotions, shrinkage, and inventory turnover.
  • Conduct exploratory data analyses to reveal patterns in customer purchasing behavior.
  • Assist merchandising and operations teams in assessing product assortment, pricing strategies, and promotional effectiveness.
  • Ensure the integrity of POS data by investigating discrepancies in sales, pricing, scanning, and inventory records.
  • Collaborate with IT and store operations to oversee data flows between POS systems and analytical platforms.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reports summarizing performance and opportunities for our leadership team.
  • Execute statistical analyses and develop predictive models to aid in forecasting and operational planning.
  • Document data processes, methodologies, and findings in a clear and comprehensive manner.
  • Present analytical outcomes to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Skills:

  • A bachelors degree in Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 1–3+ years of experience as a Data Analyst, preferably in retail or POS analytics.
  • Proficiency in SQL and a solid background in working with relational databases.
  • Strong skills in data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience handling POS systems and retail data structures (such as UPCs, SKUs, pricing files, promotions, and inventory feeds).
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities with a keen eye for data accuracy.
  • Ability to distill intricate analyses into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the capability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional setting.
