Database Analyst
Position Overview
The Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB) is looking for an experienced Database Analyst in our Strategic Insights division. A crucial part of any business intelligence process is strong management of our data systems. The perfect candidate is strongly passionate about data integrity, standardizing and documenting data processes, and ensuring that data systems are user-friendly and accessible to various stakeholders across the CTFB. The Database Analyst will not be involved in the day-to-day transactional work of CTFB’s databases; rather, they work across multiple systems, making sure at a high level that the systems are functioning and meet the needs of the organization.
Relationships
Reporting to the Director of Data and Analytics, the Database Manager will work closely with the Strategic Insights team and other departments to ensure that data and data governance policies are standardized across all databases and that teams are equipped to assess and maintain data quality for the data they are responsible for. As new features and enhancements are available in CTFB databases, the Database Manager will work closely with other teams to configure and adapt the databases to best meet CTFB’s workflows.
Your Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science or related field
- Three years (3+) experience in database management including builds, queries, report design, data integrity practices and delivery
- Two (2+) years of experience with business intelligence data gathering and reporting solutions such as Power BI, Tableau, Excel and other BI solutions
- Experience with Python, R or SQL coding languages
- Experience with databases such as Salesforce (CRM), Oasis Insights (client management software), or an Enterprise Resource Planning software such as Ceres/Navision preferred
- Desire to continuously learn about and monitor product marketplace and solutions to deliver quality user experience and implement latest best practices
- Take data integrity personally, knowing that reports and insights are only as good as the information put into the system in the first place
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical solutions to non-data stakeholders
- Passion for documenting procedures and processes
- Self-motivated and ability to work to tight deadlines
- Ability to work on multiple priorities at the same time; be flexible to adapt or shift priorities according to organizational needs
- Strong project management and collaboration skills
- System implementation and project management experience a plus
- Bonus points for experience in Food Banking and/or nonprofit environment

Your Responsibilities
- Overall administration, monitoring, issue management, and production for CTFB databases, including user account management, system configuration, batch updates, and data migration
- Review database design and integration and make decisions regarding enhancements or improvements with current software providers and reporting systems
- Perform data integrity and quality audits, manage records maintenance and cleanup, and monitor systems maintenance notices, upgrades and impacts across systems
- Lead the development of policies and procedures for optimal data integrity, analysis, reporting, and compliance with database system best practices. Partner with other teams to implement and maintain these policies across users
- Work with different stakeholder groups to deliver necessary builds including customizations and workflows
- Ensure data integrity and data privacy by developing and revising, as needed, organizational standards and policies related to database access and use
- Provide training and support to various teams to develop reports, tools, queries, and to support new initiatives
- Assist in the preparation of reports, data gathering, and completion of goals, metrics and deadlines.

Working Conditions
- Hours of Operation: Generally Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Some evening and weekend hours may be required if databases are down, especially during peak times, disaster response, or holidays
- Environment: This position requires sitting for long periods of the time, utilizing computers, laptops, and other technology. The position also requires working alone and with others on a team
- Travel: CTFB serves 21 counties in Central Texas and often requires same-day travel between counties, using a personal vehicle, CTFB passenger fleet and possibly occasional out of town travel for meetings or special events
