Database Administrator/Technical Analyst

Responsibilities:

  • Creation of logical and physical database designs, Oracle database server tuning, application, along with OLTP and OLAP optimization.
  • Develop and implement operational procedures associated with the Oracle and SQL Server database products, which includes backup, recovery, standby databases, integrity, security, and performance monitoring, along with remediation.
  • Install, design and configure all Oracle and SQL Server databases and execute planned upgrades and patches. Develop data migration and conversion scripts, along with developing data migration and conversion test scripts.
  • Guide system development staff (technical and non-technical) in all issues related to the Oracle and SQL Server database product components. This will include performing DBA tasks specific to Microsoft platform systems, Linux/Unix platforms, SQL Server XML systems, PeopleSoft packages, along with other n-Tier systems.
  • Participate in the systems release management procedures, along with providing system architecture recommendations, as it pertains to database technologies. This would include Oracle analysis for various package upgrades, along with fresh installations on the platforms discussed in this position description.
  • Lead the analysis, design, development, configuration, deployment, and testing of various CRM replacement project related databases; this involves leading system architecture, object modeling, security, data preparation, migration, API, performance, environment setup, deployment, and testing
  • Provide mentoring to other members of the team specific to sharing expert knowledge as outlined in this job description
  • Support business analysts and other stakeholders with ad-hoc data requests to perform data-driven analysis and decision-making.
  • Flexible to other responsibilities within the role.

Skills:

  • Computer Science or IT degree and relevant work experience
  • 5 years experience with the full system development cycle, which includes system architecture design, database design, object modeling, system programming, security, backup/recovery management, ETL scripting, API design/development, data preparation, migration planning/execution, data warehousing design/implementation, environment configuration, code deployment, and testing
  • 3-5 years experience with Oracle RDBMS, SQL, and PL/SQL
  • 3 years experience in the designing and development of APIs
  • 3 years experience in designing, developing, and executing data preparation and migration
  • Experience with cloud migration of on-premises infrastructure and application
  • Experience solutioning and configuring backend workflows in one or more CRM, and cloud platforms such as Salesforce, MS Dynamics 365, MS Azure
  • Strong working knowledge of the Linux/Unix/Windows operating environment.
  • Excellent solution architecture diagraming skills
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.

Qualifications:

  • Experience designing, implementing, and configuring one or more data warehousing solutions such as MS Azure Synapse Analytics, Data bricks, Snowflake is an asset
  • Experience with DevOps processes such as continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) is an asset
