Database Analyst I/II
Responsibilities:
- Conduct data analysis of complex computer application systems
- Work with relational Database Management Systems modeling, design, replication, propagation, and tuning
- Utilize various database platforms such as DATACOM-DB, Microsoft SQL Server, DB2, Oracle, and Access
- Write structured Query Language (SQL) queries
- Design data warehouse and mining techniques
- Possess a working knowledge of COBOL programming language
- Perform data analysis and data management techniques
- Understand computer operation capabilities and limitations
- Maintain documentation/record keeping, data storage, and retrieval
Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field
- Programming experience in an information systems environment
- Knowledge of DB/OS interaction
- Familiarity with MVS Job Control language
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree
- Programming experience in an information systems environment
- Valid California Class "C" Driver's License

Admittance to the examination will require a valid government issued photograph identification. Applicants who are unable to present proper identification must make arrangements with the Human Resources Division prior to the test date.
A background check may be conducted for this classification.
Following an offer of employment, you may be required to submit to post offer medical and drug screening tests at County expense.
This examination will establish an eligible list from which one (1) immediate appointment will be made at the Kern County Probation Department. Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission.
