Staff Data Analyst
Responsibilities
- Renew Home is looking for a talented and self-driven Staff Data Analyst to join the growing Product Analytics team.
- Collaborating closely with stakeholders across the organization – Engineering, Product, Operations, Partnerships – you will deliver analytic solutions and timely insights by asking the right questions of our data.
- Reporting to the Manager of Product Analytics, this role offers significant opportunities to influence the culture of Analytics at Renew Home.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives with Engineering, Product, Market Operations, and Partnerships to define, implement, and iterate on measurement and analysis for our VPP performance in both utility and direct market access programs.
- Proactively identify, analyze, and interpret complex data to uncover critical business, product, and user insights. Propose strategies for improving both the systems powering our VPP and the tools used by our energy industry partners.
- Synthesize large-scale, disparate datasets — including smart meter data, device telemetry, settlement data, and logs — to aid in compliance and increasing impact of our VPP products and services.
- Build source of truth data models in DBT that serve as the foundation for VPP reporting and decision-making.
- Define and monitor KPIs to evaluate the success of new VPP features and business initiatives.
- Design effective data visualizations and dashboards to communicate to a range of audiences.
- Define appropriate data instrumentation for new product features.
- Perform statistical analysis and build predictive models on user interactions and smart device data to derive actionable and business-impacting insights.
- Be curious, passionate and take ownership over functional areas.
- Contribute to the Product Analytics team – advocate for analytic best practices, introduce new tools and processes, perform code reviews, and mentor junior analysts.
Skills
- Proven record (7-10+ years) of analytics industry experience.
- Experience in the energy industry is required, including knowledge of electricity markets and electricity meter data.
- Fluency in SQL and extensive experience with columnar databases (e.g. Redshift, BigQuery).
- Strong foundation in statistics including inference, simulation, and optimization.
- Proven ability to apply software engineering fundamentals to develop efficient, maintainable, and adaptable code.
- Experience building data pipelines in Python with DBT and Prefect/Airflow.
- Experience with the AWS cloud computing ecosystem including: Redshift, s3, ZeroETL, ecs, Lambda.
- Experience with AI/ML tools/frameworks including: Scikit-learn, Tensorflow, PyTorch, Prophet, Numpy, Jupyter.
