Business Intelligence Analyst
Responsibilities
- Deliver business intelligence capabilities to support both internal and external client needs
- Design and develop analytical data products using various datasets
- Conduct data analysis, perform statistical reviews, and prepare comprehensive reports
- Gather and document client requirements for analytical projects
- Develop and document data models and business/technical metadata
- Perform data quality audits, data mining, and trend analysis
- Create dashboards, reports, and visualizations with a focus on storytelling and insight delivery
- Establish and monitor key results, metrics, and outcome indicators
- Integrate quantitative and qualitative data to support strategic decision-making
- Collaborate in a multi-vendor and cross-functional environment
- Escalate project risks and issues when necessary
- Complete all mandatory training, including Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and Security Awareness training
Skills
- Minimum 5 years of experience translating business requirements into analytical solutions and communicating findings to technical and non-technical audiences
- Minimum 5 years of experience designing, developing, and optimizing advanced Power BI solutions
- Expertise in visualization techniques and storytelling using Power BI
- 5 years of experience creating complex measures, calculated columns, and time intelligence using DAX
- 5 years of experience analyzing large datasets for trend analysis, predictive analytics, and forecasting using Power BI and Azure analytics tools
- Proven ability to present data-driven insights effectively to executives and business users, especially in government environments
- 5 years of experience developing and managing analytical project requirements
- Strong technical and analytical skills
- Expertise in Power BI, DAX, SQL, and Azure analytics tools
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong attention to detail and data quality
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-stakeholder environment
- 2 years of experience building data products in a Government of Alberta cloud environment
- 5 years of experience integrating data from multiple domains and sources
- 5 years of experience communicating complex data principles to clients
- 3 years of experience using SQL for data transformation and analytical processing
- 5 years of experience preparing visualizations, dashboards, and analytical models
- 3 years of experience working with large government datasets
